Wednesday, April 23, 2003 - Syracuse Salty Dogs News Release - www.syracuseprosoccer.com

SYRACUSE, NY -- The Central New York Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) at University Hospital has been named “charity of choice” by the Syracuse Salty Dogs for the team’s inaugural 2003 soccer season. The team is the brand new A-League franchise of the United Soccer League.

To kick off the relationship, the Syracuse Salty Dogs is donating $1000 to CMN on Thursday, April 24, at 10 a.m., in the lobby of University Hospital at 750 East Adams Street. Onondaga County Executive Nicholas Pirro will be present to help announce the charitable gift.

The team also will implement a variety of fund-raising efforts throughout the season. CMN and the Syracuse Salty Dogs have already arranged a joint season-ticket mailing. For every season ticket sold through this program, the Salty Dogs will contribute $25 to CMN.

“Included in our mission is a commitment to be part of the family community here, and there is no better way to improve the lives of children than through the Children’s Miracle Network,” said Timothy Kuhl, president of the Syracuse Salty Dogs. “We are excited about this relationship and are looking forward to making a difference in the lives of local children.”

CMN is an organization supporting pediatric services at University and Crouse hospitals. All money raised in Central New York stays in Central New York to help sick and injured children through research, education and enhanced patient care. Over the years, CMN has raised $9 million. More than 50,000 infants, children and adolescents receive care each year at University Hospital.
