TAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced Monday its USL First and Second Division Teams of the Week for the 17th week of the season, honoring Cam Weaver of Seattle and Rob Fucci of Long Island as the USL First and Second Division Players of the Week, respectively.

Seattle rookie Cam Weaver is putting together a dream season, sitting five goals ahead of Brazilian World Cup MVP Romario at the top of the league scoring table and quickly building a solid case for league MVP.

Weaver partnered up with Cuban international Maykel Galindo, who recently returned from injury, for an amazing four goals between them Friday night. Galindo set up Weaver for goals in the second and 24th minutes while Weaver found Galindo for one in the 14th for a 3-0 lead. After a strike from Greg Simmonds put Virginia Beach on the board, Galindo sent a shot off the crossbar that Weaver buried on the rebound to complete his hat-trick on the night.

The hat-trick put Weaver on 18 goals for the season, the highest total since the 22 posted in 2003 by Thiago Martins, who is the only player since 1999 to score more than 18 in a season.

In the USL Second Division, storied USL club Long Island suffered through a difficult year, but the Rough Riders finished on a high note with a good road trip south on the weekend courtesy of defender Rob Fucci, who went beyond the normal call of duty for a back.

Fucci began the weekend between the pipes in Charlotte Friday and posted 10 saves against the second-place Eagles as his side was outshot 18-4 on the night in a 0-0 draw.

Two nights later in Wilmington, Fucci scored his first goal of the year in the 79th minute to give the visitors the lead for good in a 3-2 victory, their third of the season.
